Beck Glass
The Becks have worked collaboratively in glass since 1984. They try to make glass accessible to everyone, making things from ornaments to large sculptures.
Their blown glass ornaments are created using the murrini technique, performed by bundling and fusing colored glass rods together, then pulling the glass to a very small diameter. The glass is then cut into cross sections, each piece bearing the detailed pattern of the fused rods. The pieces are then “picked up” by rolling a bubble of molten glass over them.
The Becks began making ornaments in graduate school as a way to help raise money for the glass program. Their work is found in corporate and museum collections worldwide.
